Chuckle: Listening to the
radio, I heard these words, “After this next commercial, I’m going to play a
song for you that will bring back forgotten memories.” FORGOTTEN MEMORIES? is
that possible? –Lou Brown
Quote:The son of David
bowed to die, For man’s transgression stricken; The Father’s arm of power was
nigh, The Son of God to quicken. Praise Him that He died for men; Praise Him
that He rose again. –Joseph Antice
“I pray that you will begin
to understand the incredible greatness of his power for us who believe
him. This is the same power that raised
Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in
the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 1:19-20 NLT).
Jesus said,
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and
you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the
ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8 NIV).
Each of us must make a conscious decision to
believe God’s Word to be true, accurate, trustworthy and totally adequate for
shaping our lives. Sometimes, it requires a leap of faith to accept today’s
passage as true and accurate. These words were written by the Apostle Paul as he
was led by the Holy Spirit, and they tell us the same powerful Holy Spirit that
raised Jesus from the dead is available to us as believers and helps us live
holy lives as members of Christ’s universal church. Now, here is the question
each of us must answer, personally. Does the same power that raised Jesus from
the dead reside in us as believers, and is that power available to us as we go
about serving God and other people?
It’s common knowledge that there is extreme power
within the atom and we fear its great power especially when it is weaponized and
used to intimidate or destroy threatening forces. But, the power of the atom
can also be harnessed to benefit mankind in enumerable ways. We must remember,
our God made/created those atoms and knows all about them. Why do we have
difficulty believing that the maker of atoms; the one who raised Jesus from the
dead, lives within us in the form of His Spirit and that Spirit is available to
us in our service for our Lord? If we are not experiencing the Holy Spirit’s
power, could it be that we are unwilling to submit our wills to His and allow
the Holy Spirit to control our lives?
“So be
careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. Make the most of
every opportunity for doing good in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly,
but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be drunk with wine,
because that will ruin your life. Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and
control you. Then you will sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among
yourselves, making music to the Lord in your hearts. And you will always give
thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”
(Ephesians 5:15-20 NLT).
We should not be concerned about how much of the
Holy Spirit we have but how much of us the Holy Spirit has. Submit yourself
daily to his leading and draw constantly on His indescribable power.
There is nothing too difficult for
Him.
Love, Jerry & Dotse
